2-0 start!, but Coo-Coo gives up a run!

Reds Score early, then hold on to move to 2-0 on the season!

What a surprise, -Francisco Cordero got his first save despite giving up Casey McGehee ‘s RBI single. Shortstop Edgar Renteria made a diving stop to get a forceout and help close it out…..This Coo-Coo guy sucks!…ok, maybe sucks is too strong, but he sure as shit ain’t worth the money THIS team is paying him. There are other younger horses in the bull-pen that can give up a run an inning, and will walk every other first batter they face! This isn’t a guy worth 12 million! He’s had a decent career, but he’s not a premier closer…and The Reds cannot afford to turn the ball over to this guy, all year (again). Too bad no team will take this contract off the books for our club, mostly because they see him as I do.

AT Last, the crap taste of ANOTHER failure of a Football season is gone, and the warming outlook of Baseball season is upon us!! 44 degrees by game time I hear!

FGSports is a little pizzed Dave Sappelt wont be on the team as they head North, but the minors seem loaded at nearly every position. Sapp, Devin Mesoraco and Chris Valaika are 3 that made a lot of noise this Spring, and will be “up” during the year. Was/is Fred “Garvin” Lewis a better option, than Sappelt? Please do NOT let this be another blind man-love fest that Dusty has with a faux lead-off man…..aka: Corey Patterson! If Fred “Garvin” Lewis hits a solo Home Run tomorrow, in a losing effort, the Reds are sunk!

So, lets hope he does well, but no solo Home Run, cuz then its 2008 all over again!

Its Beer Sellars before the game, that’s where all the BEST Reds fans will be anyway!

When it works, it looks good,….when it doesn’t work,..you look like a jackass! This one worked!

Baseball Season is in full “swing”, particularly against our beloved Reds. We turned a pitching strength into a mighty weakness, once again! Oh Mr Chapman, when will you come and save us? When you lose 3 straight against the Pirates, you know early its going to be a LONG season.

How can a team like the Reds afford to pay Harang 12.5 million a season, and hand him another $2 million to leave us alone next year? Thanks to that GREAT Union we have running Baseball. How ’bout this, when the US actually is the best country in Baseball, how ’bout THEN we justify paying a failure 12.5 million a year to go 12-33 over the last couple years plus. Sure, none of this is “news”, but there’s also nothing that can be DONE about it! The Union runs the show, and quality baseball is NOT a concern with them.

As Reds fans we have to wait out bad contracts, then HOPE for little mini-miracles to happen just to get a shot at the playoffs! -NOW, Pro FOOTBALL is going to run their game w/o a cap?; and some of us still wonder why so many Steeler and Colt fans live among us?….Oh, and I haven’t even GOTTEN to Chud Ocho-stinko yet!

How long is it until Xavier Basketball starts up again?…..

PIRATES = Yankees vs the Reds

incase-you-didnt-knowAnother uncompetitive loss to the flippn’ Pirates????…12-2??? TWELVE TO TWO!?!?!?….We lost to the GAWD damn Pirates!…12-2????? …Holy $12.00 Hot Dog Batman!!!.Have we REALLY slipped that far down the slope of mediocrity?…..Can it be that bad? I ran across an old newspaper today. One from July 4th, 2009. The Reds were 39-39, and limping towards the All-Star break, after flirting with competing for the division! One player from Cincinnati represented the team in that All-Star game, and he was (still is) the man we refer to as Coco Codero. The Reds have 49 million wrapped up in this guy, and despite his good work this year, he’s way over-paid by this team and a drag on our future. The Reds were unable to deal him, and now look like they’re gonna be limited in 2010 by his stupid ass FAT contract.

Meanwhile, the team will finish a ninth straight season under .500, and this year a horrible fall of near epically embarrassing proportion. By the end of June they were in the race, but since the All-Star break they are, like, 6-25? Six wins, and twenty-five losses! ?!?!? Me and 9 guys on this web site would have gone 6 and 25!! There is simply NO ACCOUNTABILITY in this town…Losing is just too easy! Its accepted as a birthright, and its freakin’ time to make it stop! Sell the team!…move the freakin’ team to a city that will demand they play ONE freakin’ season out of ten as a contender! SAVE the franchise! The current philosophy is NOT WORKING! SET the team free, and let them compete!

I’d take my kids to more Reds games but the last 10 we went to, they left thinking winning wasn’t a reachable goal. That’s all nice in those patsy-time leagues they play for “funzies” these days, but the ones we pay $191.92 a game to watch, NOT!! This town enjoys losing, its really the only way to explain the YEARS of sucking and the little change that follows. We take “it” like a New York Hooker takes to Linkin logs! The odd thing is you could HAVE the New York Hooker for the same price, if you ditch the beers at the game!…and, of course, YOU’D be “winning” with the hook!….OK, so maybe either way, its a loss!…still, losing is losing! At least here its close to disease free!

Still, can you name another town is such dire straights than this one, from a Sports perspective?…..Thank gawd for the cyclones, huh !?!?!? We make the Sacramento Kings look like Ohio State Football!….at least THEY get to the post-season!

The Red Moves

Alex the over-priced-cant-hit-a-lick Gonzo is gone! The Reds sent him and his buy-out money to beantown for a 23 year old “ss” who’s still in Single A ball. Hairston Jr was sent to the best team in the Majors, for a low-ball prospect (too)….and Weathers = the infamous: “PTBNL” (player to be named later). Some good moves, some ???, some had to happen,..& some still might!

Then there’s the 34 year old Scott Rolen!…As much of a fan as I was of getting him, and getting RID of “EE”, there has to be some kinda of focus on turning this around quick. He counts a heavy price towards next year, particularly if we’re just gonna dial it in again. Kick in that the two arms given away in that Rolen”EE” swap (deal) were considered STRONG prospects, and it makes you cringe a little — again if this wasn’t done with something “now‘er” in mind.

male-brainhomer

With Volq shelved until what will be 2011, the lingering effects of a poor economy and little wiggle room in getting rid of those 2 over-priced arms;  there might be sound reason for “buying” more time. That time being the 2010 season….of course, Harang and “Straight leg the guitar man” could both turn it around and have fantastic years in 2010,..but who’s gonna forecast that?

If that’s the case (another “prep” year in 2010), then Rolen was brought here for no other reason than 2 teams getting rid of bad deals; and, advantage Blue Jays!

Toronto, who is markedly better than the Reds, is dumping big contracts (thanks in part to a stupid White Sox team) in what might be an attempt to reposition themselves for a run in the most competitive division in baseball….?? (They know Roy Halladay is not coming back)..maybe? What is it the Reds are doing?…sending mixed signals?

How long does this (Reds) team pay Yonder Alonso to piddle in the minors?….particularly considering his brash claims that he’s Pro ready, already?  (Mark Light Stadium is a lefty’s wet dream, btw….The Parking complex in right field creates a jet stream that often favors guys like Yonder..-and few schools still play more home games than the ‘Canes.)

The Reds had a shot this year!…Your buddy Baker might not have been THE only reason for the failure, but…there he is again, amidst another team that’s under-achieved. Considering his age, this is Baker’s last stop. He’s somehow been able to build a resume others in Baseball find attractive but, even with that, his days are numbered (here a Faber). They (The Reds brass) will keep him on for next year though, through another trying season; and then move on with a fresh approach in 2011 (We hope!)

That’s my take anyway…..jump in here: http://www.fatguysports.com/forum/showthread.php?p=6858#post6858 and give YOURS!

Perspective….and the fly ball

First off, Brandon Phillips is one of my favorite baseball players, ever. Favorite current Red, and in my opinon the FACE of the Reds as a team. He’s hardly been the team leader (by example), of course, as his “tank-it” on another fly ball routine showed in the opener of the Dodger series. This is nothing new to the star second baseman.

By now we all know the STORY and the “big” news that Baker took offense to it, and sat him in last night’s LAUGHER, a 12-3 loss. (yeah, it WAS 12-1 after 5,..and “Man Ram” was being “Manny” long before it ended, his day being over in the bottom of the 3rd.)

phillips2009may09

I didn’t see anywhere in the article that he was forfieting a game check, or providing it as a donation to some charity,..so,…I’m gonna assume he got paid to sit there. WOW,…little DRASTIC don’t cha think? He sits in a Major league Dugout….everything is still comped; -food, drinks, laundry, care, everthing….but instead of “WORKING”?….he’s gonna sit, AND get paid?;….and THAT’S gonna teach ANYONE a lesson? I know here at work, if they told me to come to work and just sit and watch, BUT get paid…I tried like HAIL to make sure THAT wasn’t a regular happening!….brutal punishment Baker, BRUTAL! Send his ash back to Cincy, w/o pay, and that message is a little stronger,….my opinion. Of course watching the team lose 12-3 MIGHT make him feel like a fan, for a minute, and just might leave a lasting impression…????

YAWN,…National League fails again! (4-3)

Did anyone even watch that All-Star game last night?  FULL STORY …..I found myself longing for some competitive skating after ’round the 4th inning! OK, it wasn’t that bad, and I’m not that gay! Still, there isn’t enUFf “game”, its all just another FOX reality show. Are they kidding?…36 man rosters? 15 pitchers?!?!  36 freakin’ players for EACH team?; That’s (slightly) more people than Allen Iverson takes to a bar with him! There were, collectively, eight First Baseman there last night…EIGHT!…NINE if you count Fielder’s fat ass twice, like they do on a plane!

 mlballstargame

If you need 36 players a team, play 2 fuckin’ games….and stop taking a player per team. That’s just rewarding some random “kind-worthy” guy for being on a loser team, not as an all-star! Cocco might have deserved some kind of recognition for his efforts so far this year, but c’mon, an ALL-STAR??!?!…NO! 72 “All-Stars” kinda cheapens the whole idea, take 20 and PLAY BALL!

What do YOU think?…tell us!

….OUT OF CINCINNATI!

99mrred1

Super Star 5-tool players get traded from here, once they show promise! These guys and/or players that play hard, are moved out like a vomit soaked couch at Halftime!  We have little tolerance for this kind of contribuatory player, in the ‘Nati. We like Dickerson and Patterson types here!…..rUFfly .200 or below BA’s, and average OF skills are whats BIG with the Baker’ REDS!

redsbaseball2009

Look for Nix as an Angel, or a Ray perhaps….maybe even as a Brave? Anywhere but here, OH, and don’t look for a big return either!….its not in the “Cards”!

We got a LEMON!

No,..not Chet Lemon,…that would have been an UPGRADE!…We got DUH’sty Baker,…..the guy who leaves .200 hitters in the line-up, when he has players hitting +.340, so he doesn’t harm a guys confidence!…a PAID players confidence…Well, if his CONFIDENCE is that easily disrupted, by sitting a few games, then is he MENTALLY a guy we want ANYWAY?!?!?!…”NO”!…the answer there is, No!

stubbornness

He won’t take out the dude hitting .217, even for a couple games a freaking WEEK, to play the hot hand hitting .344! WHY?….again, we roll to the newspaper, for more stupid ash shit Dusty Baker says. “What am I gonna do, switch the hot guy for the guy struggling every week?”…”What’s that gonna do for the guy’s confidence?”…SHIT Duhsty, I don’t really think I care much about THAT!..(This ain’t T-ball, man!).Heck, I thought WINNING games was more important than a PROFESSIONAL ball player sitting down for a few games a week, cause he’s hitting .217!!!!…(HIMz FEELINGs GET HURT, did they, DUHSTY??). IF there’s a guy hitting, and sitting, and there’s a guy playing and NOT hitting,….YOU PLAY THE HITTER!….that’s not a tUFf call, Mr Lose games over hurt Dickerson’s “wittle” feelings…..

I’ll be intersted to see that, when he does start Nix,…what kind of chain he’s gonna have on HIS neck……Think Nix will be allowed to dip under .200, and STILL start 6 games a week?….I’m gonna bet not. Patterson and Dickerson seem to be the same guy, in Duh’sty’s eyes. I’m not discounting Dickerson as a player,..and if there wasn’t a dude on the bench, hitting like Nix is right now, I’d say he should start 5 or 6 games a week….AND, if he were the only one STRUGGLING!..it’d be more acceptable. BUT!…”EE” was suckin’ ass, Gonzo was sucking ass, Hernandez was sucking ass, Bruce, Dickerson and McDonald’s Hot Apple Pie, were ALL sucking ass….so, Baker, does nothing….rides it out, as if winning is something we’ll just worry about later. If “EE” were still healthy, and Gonzo?…..we’d be 2-3 games under .500 right now, and he’d be the guy KILLING this super pitching staff we’ve got going right now. He’s not managing, here,…he’s just rolling out the status quo, asking people to bunt who he KNOWS can’t, riding his starters too long, and accepting poor play because he “likes that guy”!…That’s not managing. Managing means DEALING w/the player who is struggling, and keeping HIM sharp while he sits the bench,….NOT telling the guy hitting .344, “Oh, stay sharp in case I need you to go in a get a pinch-hit”…..I know you’re hitting the HAIL out of it now, but hopefully I can ruin your BA by ONLY using you as a PH and playing the .217 hitter in your place, -regardless!

The Cub fans were dead on,…he’s a BOZO!

Reds fans,..its gonna be a LONG summer….

…This team sucks!….and that’s categorically the problem in every phase of the game. They make it hard to watch a game,…well,…watch with the ( early season) notion that winning is possible anyway.

cincinnati_reds_large_ds

Two games do NOT define a year….0-2….I agree, and in the case of the 0-2 Yankees,….that’s dead-nutts on. The Yankees don’t accept mistakes quite like we do here.  The Reds don’t do the things it takes to win! This is a Coaching issue, and Baker has his mind on other things, like not benching starters for that BULLSH.T ”ab” Double “E” took with Phillips on 3rd and one out. Then later on he did it again with runners in scoring position. He does NOT give quality “ab’s”, and he does not think while he’s up there….unfortunately, management just gave him a big ass raise, so he’s ours for a while. The kid should not be a starter in MLB.

Volq and Lincoln BOTH threw meat when ahead 0-2 on GOOD hitters, and no one on base….then Schnieder gets his with the bases juiced….(Bruce slipping wasn’t technically an error, but….) This isn ‘t good baseball, and no one seems to be held to any standard, here. How is it this city just continually accepts crap from its Sports teams. I’m not saying they need to win-win-win, but they should be held to professional expectations when calling themselves “PRO”-Ball players!…..Italy (from the WBC) would beat this Reds’ team like a three dollar whore! -What a waste!

Mrs UFreak was caught downtown the other day by a FOX camera crew asking people about what they expected from the Reds this year…When asked how many games she thought they’d win, she said “50″….I laughed at her (when it was shown on TV later that night)…..yeah, well, they’ll win more than 50 games, but not MUCH more!….They still need to be taught things. I know a lot of people dis-like Brantley,..but he and Baker should switch jobs. Of course, I’d never turn up the volume on a game, but I’d deal with that!
