Take away from it?…A great season!

Posted by UFreak On January - 2 - 2010

12-1 sucks, dont it?…Yeah, it sucked for the Gator fans too! They/we were pizzed off, after the ‘Bammer game. They thought they’d be playing next week, on Thursday! That didn’t happen, though, because they screwed the pooch in the SEC Championship game. Alabama had things working, and outplayed Florida. Now BAMMER gets the big date with the “Steers”, and a shot at the big brass ring.

Florida got to play one more game before it would be “over”…and ANY BCS Bowl game is an honor and a big deal; Win or lose. UC had a great year, no shame in going 12-1,….No shame in winning a (BCS) Div One Crown!….No shame in igniting a city’s passion for Football;- in a town void of “good” Sport for so long. No shame in putting the city on the Football map, and placing two great players (and super individuals) into the NFL Draft board! (at least)

fatguysports112

In 1995, Florida went 12-0 through te regular season, and earned a game with the Corndogs from Nebraska!….They led after the first quarter, but ended up getting pummeled by perhaps the greatest College Football team of all time….at least some can argue they were! Florida responded by winning the National Title the following year. Steve Spurrier wasn’t the Coach bringing in 5-star recruits with much regularity. He took his “kind” of players, and made they play his brand of Football. Kinda like what Brian Kelly was doing here. UCincinnati can use this season as a springboard, to continue this success. The loss last night might have looked bad, or felt bad, but its part of the growth. The city showed they will support this, and the love is everywhere. I went to 8 different places today, and was cursed out in everyone!….That’s some good Bearcat support there, folks!

HAPPY old lang syne NEW YEAR, Crones!

VIDEO

Looking forward to a great year, in 2010! Hope y’all have a great SAFE time tonight, and dont forget about that little old game tomorrow night,…right close to 8:30pm or so…..

If you’re thinking about some kind of NEW YEARS food for that game, WE here at FatGuySports gotcha coverd! This little feast is sure to help make YOU a hit!(at least big points for original game grub!)….Get up early and run down to Jungle Jim’s in Fairfield; -Might be your best commercial option for the ingredients…If not, hit up some random farm on your way home tonight. Either way, you’ll love this one!

FGS New Years “Pacha Pary Treat”!

This terrifying abomination of a meal heralds from Iraq and consists of you eating boiled sheep’s head. That’s pretty much it. Oh, also, you might get some trotters and stomach thrown in there if you’ve been good.

The ingredients are all boiled slowly so that a sort of broth (read: distilled liquid nightmare) forms around the head, and whatever other body parts are being boiled. It is then seasoned to taste (most likely with the screams of children) and served with some bread soaking in the broth itself. If the stomach is being served as well, then that would most likely be filled with rice and lamb before being sewn shut to keep all that stomach-flavored goodness inside.

Perhaps the worst part of the dish is that once you get over the oddness of eating a boiled sheep’s head, all you’re really doing is eating sheep meat, until the terror reveals itself with each consecutive mouthful of boiled head meat. Piece by piece and scrap of flesh by scrap of flesh, you will slowly reveal the rictus grin of the sheep skull beneath. Depending on whether or not you opt to have the eyeballs removed or left in, by the time you finish your pacha, you’ll be left with a skull on a plate, its empty eye-sockets a hollow mockery of their former selves.      YUM!

Its the Butch Jones Show now….boooo!

Posted by UFreak On December - 16 - 2009

UC lays an egg! They failed to sway Jeff Quinn into staying…meaning, he must either KNOW something, or he REALLY likes Notre Dame green too!

THIS is not the best hire! Jeff Quinn must have said in no un-mixed words, that he was going to So Bend with Kelly. No other reason you take this Butch dude. Nope!..Not one bit happy about this and I cant think recruiting will improve as a result, either. It just looks like some one is trying to make Cent Michy out to be some kind of Modern Day Coaching factory. Brian Kelly had it, but hittin’ up the well again?..Same team, by the same team?

GOOD LUCK BUTCH!…I hold out hope you do good things here, but I cant think this is a better bet than Quinn would have been. Even had Quinn declined, look at some other big name programs a little and get a name recruits can relate to!

Motor City Bowl Jones Football

Better enjoy this Sugar Bowl, UC’ers, its gonna get a WHOLE lot tUFfer here forward!….dang Notre Dame and their sack of gold coins!

Turner Gill will NOT be the next UC Head Coach….

Posted by UFreak On December - 13 - 2009

No, he sure wont be, here at UC. WHY?…well, probably the biggest reason is he can return to the BIG12. Turner Gill was a fablulous player at Nebraska, of course, and tooled under some impressive Coaches during his post-playing days. He would have been a nice fit here too. His offense is a little different, but I think he’d have been a better fit than Skippy will/would. (Skip Holtz). Anyone who’s father does a spot on ESPN as DUMB as Lispin’ Lou Holtz, will never get an endorsement here!…..He can become the next Urban Meyer, and he’ll still be the dude who’s lispin’ Dad did that dumbass skit on ESPN! To be fair, I should cut ESPN in on 1/2 the blame,…so, I do.

funny_pictures_965…..What they tell you you’ll get, and what you ACTUALLY get. See any difference?….

So, Turner Gill is off the list, and Skippy is still available!…(yuh-wah, What a surprise, huh?) Will Kansas be better off at this time next year, than UC will? Probably not!…but my guess suggests that by 2011, Gill has made strides, while Skippy will lead UC back to the middle of the pack in the Big Least. I sure hope UC Skips, on Holtz!…

Think the mighty (Jeff) QUINN, instead!

The expasion talk, again….

Posted by UFreak On December - 12 - 2009

The “OLD TEN” has watched their once mighty (well, it was in the 40’s - 60’s I hear) conference fall further and further behind everyone else, for years!
Before you think this is a “bash-the-Little-1(1)0″ piece, it really isn’t. The Big10 in trying to stick to its “traditions” has been slow to do most things other conferences have. The most progressive thing they (as a group) did, was UMichy’s hiring of Dick Rod - and unfortunately they are 2 years into that move and looking back on it with raised eyebrows. Think about OSU’s hire of Vesty…that’s NOT a move most other BIG schools would have made. It turned out well for them, but can you see Notre Dame or Oklahoma reaching out to an in-State small townie-Coach like that? You’re gonna have some success anyway, because of that old brand name, but still….low wattage. Paterno wasn’t part of the conf when he was hired,…back in 1921, or when he won Nat Titles; Making Tress the only hire who worked it all out. Though his EPIC failure against Florida in that Title game kinda took a shine off those earlier accomplishments.

The Big-Whatever conference has long been a 2-man race (No disrespect intended towards Wiscony, but really…until PENNIState got there, and got good again - boom, it was just OSU and Michy). Michy is struggling now, so its made PENNIState better. Two National Titles in the last 40 years, a losing record in the Rose Bowl, and 7 teams that dont instill fear in any MAC team, will do that.

 aaairsih1

Now they are looking like, or at least saying they will fill in another team, round off to 12 teams and get something new in the mix. For 15 years they’ve been waiting for ND to fall in their ranks, they resisted. (Mostly because the NCAA is filled with enUFf ND alum’s to keep the “gifts” coming.)

They missed out on Cincy, which would have been a super pick up (but who knew until a few years ago?)…now they are going to have to reach out to a Central Michigan, or try to pull some other ACC-like heist. Central Michy will need stadium/facility upgrades, but they are regionally a good fit. They also boast the best potential for quality, though they’d never win the Title…..which may be the plan, and it shouldn’t be. Waiting for ND to fall in line just ain’t happenin’!

Alvarez was always a good coach, hopefully he can rally enUFf supporters to get this done quick….A BIG10\11\1? Conference Title Game?….YEE-hah!

Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez says the Big Ten will soon make a more aggressive push toward adding a 12th member.

Speaking to Wisconsin’s athletic board on Friday, Alvarez, the former longtime Badgers football coach, said the conference already has investigated possibilities for expansion “from all over the country.” And though he places no timetable on the search, Alvarez thinks conference commissioner Jim Delany will respond to a group of athletic directors and coaches who want expansion.

“I have a sense he is going to take this year to really be more aggressive about it,” Alvarez told the board. “I just think everybody feels [expansion] is the direction to go, coaches and administrators.”

Penn State football coach Joe Paterno has been the most vocal advocate of a 12th Big Ten team, and he has support from several of his fellow coaches.

A 12th team would allow the Big Ten to split into divisions and hold a conference championship game. The Big Ten typically ends its football season two weeks before the other BCS conferences, though the addition of a permanent bye week in 2010 will shrink the gap by a week.

“We’re irrelevant for the last three weeks of the football season because we’re not playing,” Alvarez said Friday.

Paterno has stumped for expansion several times, but Delany — who was unavailable for comment — told ESPN.com this spring that the league has no immediate plans to add a 12th team.

“There’s not an obvious move,” Delany said in May. “There might be to some coaches, including Coach Paterno, but it’s not as obvious to the university presidents and to the athletic directors.

“There are a lot [of schools] that could take a lot away, but there aren’t a lot that could bring so much to make the choice an easy one. You have to have a lot to make something go like this, and it’s broader than really a championship game or a basketball tournament.”

The Big Ten most recently expanded with Penn State, which began competing as a league member in football in 1993. The league has made runs at Notre Dame but hasn’t had serious discussions for several years.

UC will be fine, but ND will still suck

Posted by UFreak On December - 11 - 2009

Gilyard handled the news just fine, and why shouldn’t he?…He’s been a great leader for this team, and they will be fine going forward. There are a number of solid coaching prospects, and they’d be lucky to inherit a 12-0 team!

inmyass

Skip Holtz: The East Carolina coach since 2005, Holtz just won his second-straight Conference USA championship. After being linked last year with the Syracuse head coaching job, Holtz was quoted as saying “it would have to be a really special situation to get me out of here.” East Carolina plays Arkansas in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl on Jan. 2.

Chris Petersen: After four seasons at Boise State, Petersen is now regarded as one of the best offensive coaches in the country. Fans will remember his team beating Oklahoma 43-42 in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl. Could playing in the Big East, with its BCS bowl tie-in, be attractive for Petersen? Maybe, then again, he’s about to play in his second Fiesta Bowl in four years: The Broncos play TCU on Jan. 4.

Butch Jones: Jones replaced Brian Kelly as the Chippewas’ head coach in 2007. He led Central Michigan to an 11-2 mark this season and Top 25 ranking, and his team will face Troy in the GMAC Bowl on Jan. 6 in Mobile, Ala.

Jeff Quinn: The long-time assistant to Kelly is UC’s offensive coordinator.
He’s spent 21 seasons with Kelly and knows the ins and outs of the Bearcats’ offense. He’s a finalist for the Broyles Award.

Let’s hope Quinn gets that perm job, even though he sounds like he’s not expecting it…

Bowl Odds

Posted by UFreak On December - 8 - 2009

Las Vegas has posted opening lines for the five Bowl Championship Series games:

Rose Bowl: Oregon (-2) vs. Ohio State. Over/under: 50. The line has moved to minus-3.5 at the time of this post.

Sugar Bowl: Florida (-10.5) vs. Cincinnati. Over/under: 62.

Fiesta Bowl: Texas Christian (-4) vs. Boise State. Over/under: 54. The line has already moved to minus-8.

Orange Bowl: Georgia Tech (-3.5) vs. Iowa. Over/under: 51. The line has moved to minus-3.

BCS title game: Alabama (-4) vs. Texas. Over/under: 45.

Ohio State, Florida, TCU, Jawja Tech, and Alabama, will win. (Though will ALL cover the spread?)……Who outside of SEC fans REALLY wants to see a 4th straight (and 3rd different) SEC National Champion!??!?!…Yeah, look for the BCS Bashers to rally in high gear over this! No one likes ANY thing that wins like this. Sure, this should be Florida and Cincy in THE BCS game, but that didn’t happen thanks to a poor performance by ‘dem Gators.

Who bets the TCU talk this year dwarfs that of The Ute talk last year?..Yeah, and it’ll be ALL the same people!

yup!…Tiger (reportedly) banged THIS porn star too….But as she might tell it,…”Who hasn’t?” — Still, bet it was a lot of fun!….for him!

Pitt cant stop final WVU drive…

Posted by UFreak On November - 27 - 2009

…thus taking a bit of the shine off next weeks game between UCincy and those disappointing Panthers. Pitt QB Bill Stull was a mediocre flop today, and the result is a loss for the Bearcats.

The WVU Mountaineers defeated the Pitt Panthers 19-16 in a game that will send Pitt OUT of the top 10, and tarnish what will be a Bodacious Bearcat Beatdown next weekend. Tony Pike and the boys sunk Zookers Illini as Pike fired 6 TD passes, and probably earned Brian Kelly another bonus tier with the Notre Dame Athletic Director.

 uc

All that needs to happen, is either F$U to trip up Tebow and the Gators in Tim’s final home game tomorrow, and/or for Nebraska to play out their asses and dump the 2009 Heisman winner Colt McCoy and his Longsteers on their asses. Sure, long shots, but how jacked up will F$U be to pull of their 1/2 of the formula? Beat Teeb’s in his last home game, last regular season game, and thump his chance of playing out his career in yet another BCS Title game!??!?! The motivation will NOT be in short supply tomorrow in G’ville! (CBS 3:30pm, for those who don’t know)

TCU gets New Mexico, or New Mexico A&M Tech State?; The only chance of an upset there is if The Texans show up in the Lobo’s place…..Everyone who blew Utah’s horn last year is in LOVE with the Horned ones this year, naturally! Anything to deflect! After all, they beat Clemson and Virginia this year!

There is hope, but its fading unless a few things happen. I for one, was very impressed (again!) with the UCats today, and Mr Pike’s great home finale! If they don’t get to play for the Nat Title, then I hope they get Jawja Tech or those (now) beloved Horned Frogs/Boise State Broncos. I also hope Kelly has the decency to divert attention away from his job status to NOT let it interfere with the prep work going into Bowl season. Can you imagine if Urban and Kelly both decline the job? Then its a race for J Hairball and Gary Patterson. THEN!,..man, if THEY turn it down as well?….Big Butt might just get to keep his job, to help ND save face!…..but, naaahhh, one of those guys will up and take it…..just hope its Hairy or G-Pat.

UCats fans,..is the party over?

Posted by UFreak On November - 12 - 2009

Brian Kelly has done a very admirable job in Cincinnati since he arrived, and started talking about playing for the National Title!…Few outside Cincy noted what he was saying, and, even IN town few figured he was sane or even sober! (noticed how I skipped any reference to Chokin’ Huggins…). THEN!…he delivered! An Orange Bowl birth last year, and now this incredible run with a team the was suppose to be rebuilding! “Rebuilding” is an odd word to use when talking about UCincinnati Football, but that’s permitted after the Big East crown in 2008.

 Orange Bowl Football

Kelly’s terrific job in town here, spells big trouble for all the “new” UC fans though, thanks to that big hunk of sh.t Charlie Weis and his uncanny inability to produce wins in South Bend! Even with a comically weak schedule, the “Round mound of Crap” can’t win enUFf games (or, ANY BIG GAMES) to keep his job despite an 18 million dollar buyout clause!….Really, how bad do you need to be if the idiots who over-paid you are also gonna over-pay to just F*CKIN’ LEAVE!!! To LEAVE!!,…he’ll get 18 million, after splooging some 4 million+ a year for SUCKING ASS!?!?!…..Sure, from a “Hey but he’s getting 18 million on top of what he’s already robbed from the University” stand-point, its a great thing! Sure, he duped the living sh.t out of that idiot who writes checks for school employees,..but then so did THIS kinda dumb bitch. Charlie has obvioulsy smoked her in this category, but I already mentioned that.

So, Notre Dame is going to pony up and send Fat Ass packing, with an 18 million dollar golden parachute…still hard to believe, but, they are! Now, here’s the UC interesting part; THE man they are going to go after REALLY REALLY hard is your good pal, Brian Kelly. Says WHO?…Says THESE GUYS! So, does he take the cash and replace the (fat) ASH?…probably! Will UC Football perish?….yeah, probably (again!)…..so, you have TWO choices, UCat fans,….Become Irish fans for at least the last 3 games if the regular season, or pony up 2.5 mil a year and keep Kelly in Ucat riches! Well, I guess you could also hope to hell that John Gruden wants the job in South Bend…hhmmm, this here says NO

Hey, don’t get mad at the messenger, as a Gator fan I’ve been going thru this every year Tubby-ass has BEEN in South Bend! That load of shit has just kept on Failing! Heck, they might still go after Urbs, but they’re gonna like Kelly’s offense (not a spread) much “more gooder” than Meyer’s. ME?..I’m gonna hope he loses AND they keep him, figuring 18 MILLION DOLLARS is just too much damn money to hand a failure as he leaves!…..I’d hope they’d be more interested in losing and making him pace the sidelines, then follow that up with pressers where he makes a complete ass of himself, than they are in making a change…you know, get your money’s worth!

UC falls to #8 in BCS Poll????

Posted by UFreak On October - 25 - 2009

This’ll tick off some locals!….and maybe it should. I can’t get over USC being allowed to lose to HORRIBLE teams year after year, and still getting the highest ranking a one loss team can get! Washington?….Losing to Washington should discount them down to a 2 loss team. SURE,..the National Championship game in IN the Rose Bowl this year, and ooooh how nice that would be???….but WASHINGTON?….whew! The also (only) beat Oregon State by 6 points!?!?….UC thumped ‘em!

 BCS Standings

Then there’s the IOWA love…which to a degree is valid, but a 4th and goal TD pass with no time left to beat Michy State?..If Florida or Alabama had done that, they’d have been blasted…..yet for Iowa?…They’re treated like Royalty for a BUNCH of really ugly wins, and one strong win at PSU. LOOK . They beat Northern Iowa by one?,..and beat Arky State by 3?……Florida beat REGULAR Arky by three and were beat down for it! I understand the love, to a point, but the hate for some teams and the global love for “anyone else” is a bit over the top. Particularly when you use a double standard like that.

 my-opinion_dr1

Alabama \ Tennessee….THAT was a finish there!….UCLA beat those Kiffin’s? Hhhmm, maybe they were a little too pre-occupied with their next game to give UCLA the respect they should have given them???? Does that mean Meyer is responsible for 2 of Kif’s losses this year?

FGS top 10

Posted by UFreak On October - 25 - 2009

1. Florida:  Pros; Undefeated, beat a top 5 team on the road Defense very strong.  Cons; Winning close games against teams they should beat by more. Offense not playing well, horrible turnovers.

2. Alabama: Pros; Beat Virginia Tech (neutral site), great D and POWERFUL RB in Ingram. Cons; have been close at times, including 2pt home win against Kiffin’s Vols 10.24.09.

3. Texas: Pros; Big win against Mizzu, strong D and Spl teams. Cons; horrible schedule, barely beat Okly in a game Okly lost 4 of 5 lineman and their QB. The BIG12 has no team in the North, the Title game will get ugly. conference is down.

4. UCincinnati: Pros; Explosive offense, beat Oregon State (away game) by MORE than USC did playing the game in LA! Cons; Haven’t hit a top team yet, big games are UWV and Pitt.

5. Iowa: Pros; Undefeated, beat PSU in Happy Valley. Cons; all wins are ugly/lucky. This is a negative when other teams do it, so it is here too. Also tOSU will beat them in Columbus.

6. TCU: Pros; undefeated, beat BYU like a drum on the road. Cons: barely beat Clemson (but it was on the road), weak schedule, any of the teams above them would also be undefeated here.

7. Boise State: Pros; Undefeated, took out Oregon -though Oregon was lost on opening day. Oregon wasn’t going to beat ANY team on that day, so a win, but more based on super timing.

8. Oregon: Pros; super offense, beat Utah, great looking uni’s and defense is playing well. Cons; lost on the road at BSU, RB sucker-punched a player on live TV, have won big, but not against a biggie (yet)….Cal was a phony!-but they did destroy them!

9. LSU: PRO’s; Beat Washington on the road (same team that beat USC) great defense, maturing offense. CONS: lost home game, but that was to #1 Florida. Still has to show up against Alabama.

10. Southern California: Pros; Great fan support, beat Ohio State on the road, beat over-rated Notre Dame on the road. CONS; Lost to 3-5 Washington!..should be -’nUFf said! Any loss to a team that bad, should disqualify this team. They lost to Washington after LSU beat them in the same building! No excuse can cover up this loss. They beat Oregon State by less than UC did IN Corvallis. They should need a LOT of help to make the BCS Game, even though its in their media market this year!

 fatguysports11

Mix in to the next five : Georgia Tech, Oklahoma State, PENNiState, Miami(U), and  Pitt…. Not sure how ANYone can rate USC higher than UC at this point. They lost a game, and it was against a nobody. UC played a common opponent and destroyed them (OSUw).

CJ Spiller or Mardy Gilyard?

Posted by UFreak On October - 24 - 2009

You’re the Bungles top brASS-person….meaning you’re Mike or Katie! You have a mid-twenty pick in the NFL Draft, due to some shrewd pre-draft day deal. With your regular pick (a mid-teen pick) you address the DE hole you feel needs sureing up, but in the mid-or-early twenty something pick you see: CJ Spiller and also note that Mardy Gilyard is there. Who do YOU take?

CJ Spiller or Mardy Gilyard?….Spiller rates (presently) as perhaps the higher pick, but how could SOP (or YOU AS SOP!?!?!) “pass” on this kid Gilyard without pause? I say you got a tUFf call there,….but I take MG! WHY?…Cause, more than anything, I want to dump Chud Ocho-stinko off the squad, and if I DIDN’T just move his clown-act ass to GET this pick, I trade him after I make it for anything I could get!…yes, even for a cooler full of Sam Adam Octoberfest bee-yuhz!

mardyoctoberfestspiller

Of course, what are the odds we get a front line DE (Hardy) and then fall into another first-round pick (trade Chud!…trade Chud!…) particularly with the REAL SOP and Katie in charge!?!?!?

…AND “DON’T” click it right here!

Saturday = GAME DAY!….Louisville (2-4) at Cincinnati (6-0),3:30 EST, ESPNU, Saturday, October 24

Why to watch: These are strange times in Cincinnati, indeed. One of just seven unbeaten teams left in the country, the Bearcats are navigating uncharted waters after debuting at No. 5 in the first BCS rankings. However, they’re also trying to process an injury to star QB Tony Pike, who sprained his wrist and aggravated a plate in his forearm in Thursday’s key win over South Florida. He hasn’t been ruled out of this week’s game, though super sub Zach Collaros will prepare as if he’ll be the starter. Winners of five of the last six in this rivalry, Louisville needs to get its hands on the Keg of Nails in the worst way. The Cardinals are in danger of circling the drain after fumbling a game to Connecticut and falling two games below .500. With rumors about Steve Kragthorpe’s future beginning to swirl, the team needs to tune out the noise and focus on picking up a Big East win.
Why Louisville might win: Obviously, if Pike is unavailable, it’s a boon to the Cardinals’ chances. As good as Collaros was in Tampa, he has limited experience and nowhere near the potential as a passer, which neutralizes Mardy Gilyard and the talented Cincy receivers. Adam Froman is settling into his role as the starting quarterback, throwing for 295 yards on Connecticut and getting the best out of WR Scott Long. With a threat from the passing game, backs Victor Anderson and Bilal Powell have started to enjoy more running room than earlier in the year.
Why Cincinnati might win: Even if the Bearcat offense takes a step back until Pike is up and running, the defense is capable of picking up the slack. One of the biggest surprises of the first half in the Big East, the rebuilt unit has been stout, yielding just 14 points a game and leading the country in tackles for loss. It’s been a total team effort, with first-time starters, like LB JK Schaffer, DT Derek Wolfe, and CB Dominique Battle, rising to the challenge. The always-important turnover battle will heavily favor the home team. While Cincinnati ranks No. 5 nationally, Louisville is No. 90 and having problems protecting the ball.
Who to watch: The Cincinnati D was playing well before LB Curtis Young returned, but it’ll be even deeper and harder to circumvent now that he’s back from knee surgery. A hybrid between an outside linebacker and a defensive end, he had three tackles for loss in the opener with Rutgers before getting hurt a week later. In the South Florida game, he had five solo tackles and two more stops behind the line, signaling a rapid return to his pre-injury form.
What will happen: Considering all that’s swirling around Cincinnati these days, might it be vulnerable a week following the nationally-hyped South Florida game? You bet. Especially in a rivalry game, the Bearcats will have to be careful not to get caught in a lull. They’ll struggle early before the defense comes through with a couple of key stops and turnovers to change the tempo of the game. Cincy will remain unbeaten, but will have to sweat this one out for a while.

Prediction: Cincinnati 30 … Louisville 17 … Line: Cincinnati (-17)…

Kryin’ Kelly?..where’s your loathing haze of Brian Kelly?

Posted by UFreak On October - 20 - 2009

Where’s the OUTRAGE?!?!?!…Where are the violins?…Where’s the rage that a Head Coach of a team is “politicking” for his team to the College Football World? Short memories? If THIS isn’t the “full monty” in/of his plea, its certainly the first chapter. It may not (yet) have taken on the grand scope of some of the others before him, but its there to read! Its also clearly the begining of MORE to come!

Seems the World was all afire in 2006 when Urban Meyer was asked (in December, mind you) if he thought his team deserved to be in the BCS Championship Game, against tOSU….the fan reaction in much of the country, including THIS AREA, was that Mr Meyer was guilty of politicking, so to speak. Some fans even termed him Urban “Cryer” (Meyer), for his “sins”. By the time his team packed up and left Arizona, following his 41-14 win, the name was his forever. HE was right!…and those who gave him his nickname, were dead-ass wrong! Didn’t matter! Since then, other fans who probably don’t even follow the game all that much, picked up on the cool nickname, just out of spite/hate!

Fast forward to October 18th, 2009 and we now have another in the LONG and distinguished line of front men talking positive about their team; this time it strikes in Cincinnati, OHIO. Yes, Mr Brian Kryer Kelly has thrown his whistle into the ring. So, where is the public outcry here, or negative chatter??…oooooohhhh, right, hypocrites -almost forgot!! Sure, what else can it be?….Kelly is just talking about his team!, right?….and Meyer wasn’t?…..Well, that is,..Meyer, and the 45 other that have answered that question in the same manner, over the last 20+ years…??

I’m here to say, I AM A FAN of Mr Kelly (and Mardy Gilyard, for that matter), and I’m NOT calling for his head over this opinion (just as I didn’t with Urbs). Its valid, in my opinon. Perhaps in just the same manner Urbs was back in ‘06. Not ALL of the Cocaches who “blindly promote” have had merit though;..Marshall, Tulane, ECU, TCU, K-State, to name just a few. I do have to say, in Meyers’ case, when HE was asked (and responded), it was AFTER he’d finished his season. Not thru 1/2 of it, as some of the others have done. I hope Texas ends up losing and the Gators can muster enUFf offense up to get past the rest of the teams on their schedule!…Thus opening up the VERY good possibility of a UF/UC BCS Title Game! Of course Machine will cry about poor ol’Boise State not getting the nod, but I’ll get over that pretty easy. (11 games vs teams ranked higher than 67?…and 3 ranked OVER 100?..yeah, not really too much to get moved about there….hell, Idado is 6-0 right now….you know where they’re ranked right now?…exactly!) Oh, and get ready for other fans who couldn’t SPELL Brian Kelly 3 weeks ago, to alla sudden have a great problem with him (politicking, runnning up the score, and my fav -”Lying to recruits”…how some nuts KNOW this, is odd, but they do it!). Its part of it, apparently…why?…pppfffttt, who knows? Hate seems to flow heavy towards those who win!
