Gas prices driven up by Refineries selling gas abroad!

Here is a link to an article discussing how gas and other fuel products have become the top export of the U.S. The export of gas now surpasses grain and planes.

http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/energy/story/2011

The following is a comment from that article.

“There’s at least one domestic downside to America’s growing role as a fuel exporter. Experts say the trend helps explain why U.S. motorists are paying more for gasoline. The more fuel that’s sent overseas, the less of a supply cushion there is at home.”

Perhaps the thing Obama should do is write an Executive Order banning the exportation of gas?

Live Mas?

FINALLY!

Taco Bell is making some big pushes to boost its sales. The fast food chain recently launched a big menu revamp, including the introduction of breakfast (aka “First Meal”), a new Cantina menu and a national launch of Doritos Locos tacos.

But menu additions may not be enough to get Taco Bell out of its slump. So the chain is now trying a new slogan on for size: Taco Bell now wants you to “Live Mas” (“mas” is Spanish for “more”). This slogan takes a slightly different angle on the current slogan, “Think Outside The Bun” and the previous slogan, “Yo Quiero Taco Bell.”

USA Today describes the new slogan as “more lifestyle-targeted.” Along with the Cantina menu, which tries to capture a sort of lower-cost Chipotle philosophy, the “Live Mas” slogan is clearly trying to reposition the brand a bit. But there seems to be a lot of things happening at once — we’re not sure how Doritos Locos fit in with “lifestyle.”

What do you think of the new slogan?

How ’bout “Mas Crap”?…Honesty may not be the best policy, but it nails it pretty good in this case. If you eat Taco Crap more than once a year, your Insurance rates are about to triple!

Gators blank #19 UCF

Making his first career start, sophomore right-hander Jonathon Crawford pitched five shutout innings, senior Preston Tucker tied Brad Wilkerson’s school record for career RBIs (214) with a home run, and the Florida Gators rolled to an 8-0 victory over the No. 19 Central Florida Knights at McKethan Stadium.

The victory improves the Gators to 4-1 on the young season, while UCF drops its first game after opening with three consecutive victories.

Anyone who saw Crawford get knocked around so badly out of the bullpen in a loss to Cal-State Fullerton on Sunday would not have recognized him. In that appearance, Crawford could not get anybody out. In one-third of an inning, he gave up five hits, four earned runs and walked a batter.

As a result, he came into Wednesday night’s game with an earned-run average of 108.00. Yes, 108.00.

But he was practically unhittable against the Knights — and very much in control. He pitched four hitless innings before giving up an infield single on a weak grounder in the fifth.

Brilliant ad campaign Nintendo!

The current Nintendo 3DS ad campaign makes me downgrade males in this country.
You’ve seen these “thrill a minute” pansies. They sit around with their freak’n hand held double screened geek-alarms talking about how badass they are. Four seemingly healthy dudes sitting in the same room, playing Mario somefuckinthing? How sweet! The leader geeks make fun of the lower rung geek, like there’s something less pathetic about them. Instead of wondering why one of their “gang” can’t seem to keep up with the rest!; they should be wondering who’s servicing the needs of their women.
I’m not denouncing video games by any means, just THAT kind of “gayming”.
If you ever find yourself in a room with 3 or more dudes, playing clown ass video games on a 3DS?…..Do the right thing, and shave your ‘nads off at your waist. Your not using them anyhow!
Any wonder why Nintendo profits fell 66% last year? I doubt flippant gays play those games all that much.

Spring Training is starting

I still hate the idea of The Reds training in Arizona, but it is a great time of the year! The Reds won’t be better than they will this year for a loooong freak’n time. 2012 and maybe 2013. Beyond that, its likely back to sub .500 ball for a spell.
Should be a solid year. The Reds and Red birds should battle it out….hopefully the offense here will be able to compensate for what should be the weaker starting pitching (staff). Carpy and Wainwright will be as good as it gets….edge to St Lou.
Philly, St Louis, San Fran aaannnnnd….Cincy? –CAN Philly-Phalter 3 years in a row?

Mayor Mallory’s pet Trolley project is about to take off; AND, to the wasteful tune of (reportedly) 1 billion in tax dollars over the first ten years! Wow, huh? All for the thrilling pleasure of riding from “some” of downtown, to The OTR”!!! Hard to imagine anyone was against this idea, isn’t it (note sarcasm)?
How is less than 4 miles of “track” going to pay off on that investment? Who the hell is going to ride the thing? Really, who is sitting around refusing to spend $ downtown until they get a Trolley? Yeah, hundreds of rich people will pour into downtown and spend rampantly once there’s a freakin’ TROLLEY!
The real problem here, Cincinnati, is that you’ll be paying for this pizz-poor idea LONG after our crooked ass Mayor has cashed in and left! He’ll get his pay-off, then snake out of town.
Yeah, it’s too late to stop it now….like the Bungles stadium deal is/was. I guess this is how Detroit got to where they are, huh?

College football seems headed for Plus-One

SEC Commissioner Mike Slive is in charge of a conference that’s now won six straight BCS titles.

It was SEC Media Days, the annual gathering of hundreds and hundreds of people wandering around the Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover, Ala., with credentials (some of them even journalists) and the requisite visit to the ballroom with the media guides for each school.

There, each media member was handed a gift bag that included mostly stuff that was left in the hotel room for the maids. But there was a nice T-shirt that should have come with a glass of expensive wine and some brie.

It read — “SEC: We Are College Football.”

The subtitle could have read, “It’s our world and everybody else is just playing in it.”

The conference won its sixth straight national title Monday night and will be favored to win a seventh. But you know where the SEC really flexed its muscles?

It got the BCS off its collective rear ends.

They’ve seen enough. They’re tired of hearing, “S-E-C! S-E-C!” at the end of every championship game. The conference commissioners not named Mike Slive have announced that the BCS doesn’t work. Why? I can give you six straight reasons.

So they met in New Orleans not with the idea of tweaking their system, but of changing it drastically. They cannot assure that the SEC won’t have a seventh straight champion, but they can at least make it more difficult.

At least that’s the theory.

When we get to 2014, it seems likely there will be a Plus- One in place, which would mean a national semifinal, probably to take place at two of the current BCS sites. It would be followed a week later by the championship game.

The commissioners have fought the move ever since it was proposed by the SEC in 2008, but they didn’t know the SEC planned to hoard the market on crystal balls.

They have argued that a Plus-One system would lead to a true playoff with eight or 16 teams, and we have always replied, “So what?” They have argued that any kind of playoff would hurt the other bowl games, but the other bowl games continue to decline.

Ratings and attendance were down this bowl season. Some of it was caused by matchups, some of it by the economy, some of it by geography.

They have argued that fans can’t pick up everything and spend the money to travel to numerous games, but the Orange Bowl and Fiesta had 17,000 empty seats combined with only one game for the fans of the respective schools to attend. You’re telling me that semifinal games at those two sites wouldn’t have drawn more fans, better ratings and, most importantly, bigger bucks from television and sponsors?

They have argued that it would be tough on the student-athletes, as if they really care. And while making that argument, they ignore that school is not in session when those games would be played while school is in session when they’re traveling five times a year to distant locales brought on by conference expansion.

But in the end, they would have continued those arguments in the face of facts if the SEC hadn’t created a monopoly on confetti.

Would LSU and Alabama still have met for it all? Probably. But there would have been another step.

Happy New Year!!
