The biggest little upset!
Nevada, you’re a god-send! Your comeback heroics Saturday night helped ESPN, and 98% of the College Football lovin’ world! Aside from the state of Idaho, and rUFfly 9,142 students/fans/players from a small corner in Texas, that thrilling FG in OT was a perfect cap to the 2010 season. Boise State is a Hack, who didn’t even “win” the WAC! No, with a Hawai’i win (at Home) this weekend against UNLV, the rainbow warriors will finish with just one loss in the WAC…as will BSU and Nevada (providing Nevada dumps Louisiana Tech this Saturday). Still, the BSU fans will tell you they are legit, largely because they beat Virginia Tech the week before James Madison did! They also “thrashed”: Wyoming, 5-5 Oregon State, New Mexico State, Toledo, San Jose State, Lou Tech, Hawai’i, IDAHO, Fresno State, and (they hope) Utah State this weekend! Yeah, WOW!…its like watching the movie “House Bunny” for intellectual stimulation! What an injustice they weren’t #1 all year long, huh?
Hey, like it was said before, no one discounts Boise State as a possible ONE game winner over a good team. They CAN (and have) played good teams well. However, one game a year doesn’t trump Auburn, or even Oregon through this point, and they haven’t ever had to run a conference gamut even once! Compare Hawai’i, Nevada and BSU to Michigan State, Wiscony, and Ohio State….yeah, even the Big10\11\12 have a tUFfer mountain to climb.
Every BCS conference has paid a price, right along WITH the Broncos of the WAC! still, WAC fans, or Boise fans more specifically, still have the balls to downplay the SEC…..winner’s of 4 straight National Titles, and possibly a 5th!…With 4 different teams winning those (possibly) five titles. now, the SEC sucks, yeah,..-that’s a strong argument guys! Since 1990, Florida has won 3 Titles, Alabama and LSU have won Two titles each, and Tennessee bullied in one as well; but they say the SEC is horrible! Auburn went undefeated in 2004, and might have been hosed out of a shot (yeah, I know!). That’s 8 National Titles in the past 2o years…from 4 seperate teams, and possibly another team (and Title) this year. The SEC has won 18 Titles, which is more than any other conference! (In the 12 BCS Titlese awarded, the SEC has half of them!) The second place conference, The Big10, has 13 and only 2 in the last 30 years! no, Those WAC fans nailed it, the SEC takes a back seat to the mighty WAC!
Independents : 1869–present 18– Notre Dame (8), Miami (3), Army (2), Pittsburgh (2), Penn State (2), Syracuse (1)
SEC : 1933–present 18 –Alabama (8), LSU (3), Florida (3), Tennessee (2), Georgia (1), Auburn (1)
Big Ten : 1896–present 13 –Ohio State (5), Minnesota (4), Michigan (2), Michigan State (2)
Big Eight: 1907–19951 11 –Oklahoma (6), Nebraska (4), Colorado (1)
Pac-10: 1959–present 9 –USC (7), Washington (1), UCLA (1)
ACC: 1953–present 5 –Florida State (2), Georgia Tech (1), Clemson (1), Maryland (1)
SWC : 1914–19952 5 –Texas (3), Texas A&M (1), TCU (1)
Big 12: 1996–present 3 –Oklahoma (1), Nebraska (1), Texas (1)
Big East: 1991–present 2 –Miami (2)
WAC: 1962–present 1 –BYU (1)
Now, queue up the TCU band,…after all, after Boise got bounced, all those ‘hate” fans will need the next best anti-establishment team to pump up! TCU at least took the BigEast bait, and will use their auto-bid to gain credibility! They might not notice much difference in the competition….Me thinkist that BSU “people are a little ticked that they beat ‘em to the punch:
Boise State president Bob Kustra called TCU’s decision disappointing “but not entirely surprising given the stakes of automatic qualification in the BCS bowl system and relative lack of access for non-AQ conferences.” He said the Mountain West was still a good fit for his school.
Dont worry, y’all will get a playoff format soon enough, then you’ll find a whole new evil to jump in bed with!
2-9 is pretty good!….just ask The Enquirer!
Ok, so they didn’t DIRECTLY endorse 2-9 as “pretty good”, but they did say this, verbatim:
“OCHO FINE: While Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis did a fine job of blanketing Terrell Owens, Chad OchoASShole(added) had a strong game going up against the Jets’ Antonio Cromartie, hauling in four passes for 42 yards in the first half”
Yeah, that’s printed in the paper!….He had a STRONG GAME going up against Cromartie!….That’s the accepted standard here, I guess. When a STRONG GAME is 4 catches for 42 (41) yards, you KNOW you’re in Cincinnati. I now know why so many “fans” here think Ocho has been good all this time. Yeah, in towns with expectations, four catches for 41 yards isn’t considered a “STRONG GAME”,….I know this, because I talked with several people in towns where winning is expected, AND a goal of the team itself -yeah, go figure!. In those areas the daily “Fish Wrap” doesn’t refer to loud-mouth idiots who continually fail to deliver, as having STRONG GAMES when they accum 41 (or 42) yards on four catches;….in a loss….the 8th in a row.
OK, so teams in cities that expect to win don’t often lose 8 games in a row, you make a good point. They also dont celebrate players who need to constantly remind the fans that they ARE good…then go out and get shut-down. No, 2-9 is great! maybe we should hold a parade and put Batman and the Boy Blunder in the “Pope-Mobile”. Heck, after all they blew away the Jets for, collectively, 7 catches and 58 yards just DAYS after they talked yet MORE unprovoked smack! MORE smack that they couldn’t cover in the game.
BUT HEY!…Carlos Dunlap collected a couple sacks, huh?….nice to see HIM improve (and do so without shitting out his mouth every other day!) Rey Mag got a pick!….and the patch-work defensive secondary actually did a decent job, considering. This wasn’t a game lost by the defense!
Marvin Lewis failed to toss the red flag on the punt recovery,…he said because the boys in the booth said Caldwell came in contact with the ball. The replays they showed on the tube, didn’t show it hit him. The announcers, who were really really kind to the Bungles throughout, also said they didn’t see it hit him. So, why not throw the red hanky and take a chance? It was a BIG turnover and it should have been challenged. This is just more proof that winning and this team, dont go together; As if twenty straight years of zero playoffs wins (and only 4 non-losing seasons) wasn’t proof enUFf.
Hope you enjoyed the earlier portion(s) of your Thanksgiving Holiday…The model used by the Patriots seems to STILL be working fine. You know, no asshole wr’s on that team (Moss was good right up until,…then they got rid of him…THE Patriots way!). They dont tolerate those stupid-ass side-show antics…no, they just win, and win, and win…and get to the playoffs, and win more there. Man, it must SUCK ass to be a Patriot fan, huh? All that winning, but no diva-ass wr’s like we have here! No doubt they’d give it all up, for a wr tandem that has it own TV SHOW!!!!, and calls guys that OWN them, “Average”! (and two total wins!)….Oh, and “they” (The Pats) play the Jets twice a year! The Bungles get Cleveland twice. That use to be an advantage, until Cleveland didn’t want to suck anymore and moved on…or, they are moving on. Good Ol’Cincy is staying with the stA(SS)tus quo! Good ol’Mikey Brown!
Oh, and dont be surprised when, come July, you all are getting that warm and fuzzy feeling again; –Because we drafted “a” guy, or because Chud decided that THIS year he’s gonna work out in the off-season,..or, because we signed another unwanted free-agent who was good at some point in the past 10-15 years….Or, hell, maybe Mikey gets struck with fever and accidentally agrees to hire a GM?….OK, I just went too far!
Boise State – Nevada!
Should make for a good game, but should it be the defining moment in getting BSU into the BCS Title game?….Of course not. Boise gets to choose its OOC schedule, and this year they took on VTech (big game, but the close result was negated by James Madison one week later) and Oregon State. Oregon State just beat Coach “Big-Boy Pants” but haven’t had a good year by any means. At 5-5 they’ve not proven a 13 point loss to BSU was anything more of merit than Notre Dame taking out Army last week. Boise State’s “other” two OOC games were Toledo and Wyoming! Coincidentally, Toledo and Wyoming played each other this year, in Toledo…and Wyoming won 20-15 in Toledo’s “Glass Bowl”. Apparently, like the jaw of a fighter, “Glass” means “vulnerable” in Toledo (too)!…???
(my jiggle-keys distraction)
So, BSU had their pick…they selected VTech and Oregon State. Few can argue the VTech provided, as far as potential, for a good game win. At the time, it looked like it was ALL they’d need to prove their worth! Then came along James Madison….who played those SAME Hokies, only they played them AND beat them (by more) IN Blacksburg!
This was NOT the defining moment for VTech football in 2010 though, but it did show they were NOT ready to play at the start of the year! VTech has rolled up good wins since, and last week clinched their division in the ACC with a win over the Jacory Harris-less Miami Hurricanes. Oregon State is still fighting to become Bowl eligible,….though they should make it. Point of reference, Tennessee will go Bowling this year too!
Toledo and Wyoming, though, paired with a pathetic in conference schedule does not spell “Impressive” to anyone except those looking to make Boise their sweet-heart pick. It should also be noted that Boise was offered, AND REFUSED, a series with Oklahoma and Nebraska, in the recent past.
So, why are there forces pimping Boise over other more deserving teams?….Well, for one, it plays down to the “everything in America is a conspiracy” focus we have going on here. -Enter the uber hypocrite Senetor Orrin Hatch from Utah, spewing on and on about “fairness”!! Secondly, there’s the “underdog” theme many love.
Another reason we have forces pimping BSU and TCU is that ESPN bought the rights to the BCS Title game!…and, since nearly anything can happen (apologies to you conspiracy apologists!), ESPN has to promote a potential game between two smaller markets, in the event that’s what they are stuck with! So, they hype everything up, and have their “paid” employees angle you in on the “why’s” and the “why not’s” of it all.
To be “fair” to the schools in the discussion, they are damn good, too. I’m not saying Boise State AND TCU aren’t also really good teams!….I subscribe to the adage that they “could” beat anyone on some given day theory too. BUT!…the “any-others” have to get to that date by playing and beating MUCH better teams, much tUFfer teams and do it in venues that are more difficult to play in. They have to do it MORE often than BSU or TCU do, as well. No one is going to argue, that had TCU or BSU played the schedule of ANYONE in the SEC, BIG12, ACC, PAC10 or even the BIG10\11\12, that they’d still be undefeated right now.- And they wouldn’t. This year they’d probably have made it through the BIGLeast though.
Finally, let’s all stop assuming that the playoff format that’s installed in many sports, was done so to promote “fairness”. It was only formulated and implemented to increase revenue. Part of what they used to promote that idea of having the fans spend more money, was that it was all for the glory of proving beyond the shadow of a doubt that the team that comes out of it all, is, unquestionably, THE #1 team in the land…..Most times that’s no more definitive than the College method is…It, just like a chiropractor, takes more visits!
Still, BOISE/NEVADA will be a very entertaining game, and you shouldn’t miss it!
"Doctor facing more Charges", is gonna get ****'ed!
Sure, some are going to say, “He deserves it”. To a certain level, maybe.
This is the story running on the Enquirer this week, where Dr Raymond Troy hit a pedestrian and his reported BAC was .108 By the standard set up to make the States of this Union money, that’s too high. What’s the total rate of questionable influence between a .08 and a .108?…I’m a simple man, and I don’t know if anyone can give you that answer…..but I’m going to bet it has a little to due with the DUI Cash Cow industry! Its been reported that nearly 2 million DUI arrests are made annually, resulting in an average of $5K per in fees, fines and immediate costs. Not to mention the rate increases and possible peripheral costs that can come with it. Two million times $5K…what’s that?..10 billion dollars a year in generated direct income?….something like that. That doesn’t account for the ‘after” suits, like this one, which will cost much much more!
Anyway, Doc Troy here in town had a couple drinks, and maybe even one more than he should have (we’ll let the “suits” tell us what they think about that in a few months). He drove through town, apparently, and at 1AM in the morning he clipped a guy crossing in the middle of the street. Sadly, this person was carrying a child at the time (5yr old)…..yeah, at 1AM in the morning. Doc Troy stayed with the guy, to offer the proper human element of comfort and compassion…He didn’t think solely of himself, and beat it out of town. No, he stayed and did what too few would have. The person hit required a hospital visit afterwards, where he recieved proper medical care. The injuries aren’t life-threatening, but certainly a problem and a big inconvenience to the victim.
The Doctor was arrested after the guy he hit was transported.
The Enquirer reported this today, about the victim: …”Edwards said her son was prescribed medicine for pain in his knee and has recovered physically, but she worries about his mental stability.”…”He is very scared to cross the street; he freezes up.”…”I tell him its going to be OK, and that I’m right here”… WHAT?!?!?!
Sounds like someone had a visit from a scumbag attorney, huh?….Yeah, dude was “OK” crossing the 300 block of William Taft Road at 1AM with a small child, but now he’s gun-shy?….I’ll bet some insurance money or some of Doc Troy’s personal holdings will make that fear go bye-bye, though, right!?? Sure it will! As a bonus, Troy might also lose his license and job….kinda like Leonard Little did a few years ago when he killed a woman, then fled…..Yeah, the NFL took away his ability to…what?…Oh, shit, that’s right!…He didn’t miss a single snap, did he!?!?…
…in 1998, NFL star Leonard Little crashed into and killed another motorist. When tested, his blood alcohol level measured 0.19 percent. Little received 60 days and 1000 hours of community service. Six years later, after the involuntary manslaughter conviction was wiped from his record, Little was again arrested for drunk driving.
Little missed not a snap in the incident 6 years later either!!….Yet Doc Troy, who’s BAC “#” was lower, and who hit some one crossing a street in the dark (not while speeding through a red light) can possibly lose everything! ? Ghee, let’s see…If you’re an end rusher in the NFL you’re some how a more coveted person than someone who stays at the accident scene and offers basic care to a victim; a “victim” that didn’t DIE! The football player, plays football,…the Doctor attends to some of the sickest kids in this city! Yeah, which human is more of a piece of scum here? Which would be missed more in his profession? Don’t forget, after all, that the dude taking his kid home at 1am in the morning, has (reportedly) street crossing fears that can only be comforted by him’s mommy saying she’s there for him!…The mother Little hit?; - she doesn’t have those same fears…..she’s dead.
I understand this isn’t an exact apples-to-apples comparison, but its kinda sick how these two individuals are going to be viewed and treated for their transgressions. Jim Leyritz was recently acquitted in a case a little more resembling Little’s than Troy’s….and that one stinks of high hell too. Leyritz though, unlike Little, wasn’t “found” guilty.
The Message after all that?…..Tonight is the annointed “Biggest Party Night of The Year”,…and, a night I use to enjoy the HELL out of — back during that final Ice Age. This is a “sobering” reminder to take extra care when making your choices tonight….Not at 1 or 2 in the morning, but at 6-7pm before you go out!
…..and, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!…
Why not trying Just Shutting the Hell up, for once…
….or, for good!?!…No, some stupid ass no credentialed writer with a Sony pcm d50 (those are bad ass, btw..) that he got at his bar mitzvah has to stick it in jerkasses’ face, for comment. Naturally these idiots forget they are 2-8, AND that 3rd grade locker-room barbs are ridiculous in a “PRO” game!…Still, this is the WWF influence creeping into real sports, and apparently its not going anywhere since “Joe-Public” thinks its “neat-o”! Must have something to due with the general lack of real teeth in a mouth, that causes someone to find this shit entertaining.?? WHAT happened to playing the freakin’ game?…oh, right, these are NFL wr’s, and we’re in Cincinnati!…Got it!
Terrell Owens sound bites are always stupid and juvenile at best: -Tuesday, he may have outdone himself.
He called New York Jetscornerback Darrelle Revisan average cornerback.
OK, maybe he has said worse, but Revis and average don’t really go together.
“Just an average corner to me,” the Bengals wide receiver told reporters in Cincinnati. “Everybody has assessed his abilities as far as what he did last year, shutdown corner, this and that. He did very well last year. But I think I’m looking forward to the challenge, just like he’s looking forward to the challenge.”
Revis bit his tongue.
“I’ll see him on Thursday night,” Revis told ESPNNewYork.com. “… Everybody knows T.O. He’s going to be T.O.”
For the record, Revis has 17 tackles and no interceptions on the season. In his defense, Revis got off to a slow start this year because of a hamstring injury that caused him to miss two games. Prior to this season, Revis has been known as one of the top cornerbacks in the league. Last season, Revis was regarded as the league’s best at his position.
“No disrespect, he’s only done one thing for one year,” Owens said. “You talk about shutdown corners, you need to repeatedly do it, year in and year out. I think he did it one year, and everybody made a lot of hoopla about it.”
The Owens-Revis feud stems from previous occasions.
During a TV interview last offseason, Revis called Owens a “slouch” when his name was mentioned in a word-association game.
Owens has taken the “slouch” comment to heart.
“After the season, around the Super Bowl, so many media people pumping him up, with him shutting so many people down, he came out and said that I was a slouch, myself and Randy,” Owens said. “You know, I heard it. It’s in the back of my mind.”
After the second game between the two last season, Revis said Owens got frustrated because he couldn’t get the ball.
This season, however, Owens has been anything but a slouch, ranking among the league leaders in catches (62) and receiving yards (897) to go along with eight touchdowns.
Earlier this season, Owens referred to Revis and fellow corner Antonio Cromartieas cartoon characters Ren and Stimpy (Ren and Stimpy, apparently, are going to the PLAYOFFS while “Batman and the Boy Blunder” will not!).
Owens and Revis will meet Thursday night at the New Meadowlands Stadium. On Monday, Revis said that he will be covering Owens, not Chad Ochocinco.
Let’s get it on
OKay, on one hand, I get it…Who’s gonna pay attention to a pathetically under-achieving team, unless one of their diarrhea mouths goes on the “wire” and says something stupid?…On the other hand, what does this EVER accomplish?….Is Revis gonna eat crow, or feel bad, or play poorly because TO calls him average, or anything else?…Chud did this same tired bullshit last year, and Revis shut HIS crap-hole up!….Ocho-blowhard even said he’d change his name back, if Revis was able to do what he did…TWICE!…Revis delivered, and Ocho-stinko proved once again he’s just a puss-bag of hot air. He’s still got that ridiculous made-for-tv asshole name, and he’s still nowhere closer to helping the team win playoff game #1. So, NOW his Batman Buddy goes out and calls out a cornerback on a team actually playing well and playing to expectations. WHY?…so some one will feed the junkie his “fix” for one more day? Maybe TO can issue a similar challenge (like Ocho-crapmouth did last year) and then when HE loses, will back out too…???
Cincy Asshole-player factor – HIGH,…Win total – low. Biz as usual her in the ‘nati.
There were a few fans in this town that saw (and predicted) this coming,….and, there were those of you who doubted me.
THIS Saturday!
Remember when UMichy and OSU was a good game?….
Yeah, me neither!….prediction: 46 – 31, and Pryor repeats 5 times after the game how he’s gonna come back for his Senior season! Of course, that has EVERYTHING to do with the potential NFL lock-out and little to do with Tressy under-utilizing him the past three years!
The The 35 days of Xmas
Ideas from us, for you!…for the Holidays!
The $55 Snow Toolbelt from skate/snowboard clothing manufacturer 686, was designed for men of winter who don’t want to carry around a pocketful of screwdrivers for fear of falling and puncturing a lung. Which is a very real possibility!
It feature 8, 10 and 11mm wrenches, a bottle opener, and flat/Phillips head screwdrivers. It comes in three different styles (original, small stud and large stud) and sizes M (30-34) L (34-38) and XL (38-42). Now, I know what you’re thinking, and yes — you could probably get away ordering an XL and punching a few extra notches in it, fatass. Whatever the case, your ass WILL show when in use, so now would be a good time to learn how to wipe.
35 unanswered to the worst team,…
….at home, in one half, and the engineer of this comeback was Fitzy? THAT just might be the worst thing about this 2-8 team. Well, no, its not. Reportedly about 55,000 fans attended the game today….so, THAT just might be the worst thing. Yeah, its not being outscored 42-3 after building that lead….its the Cincy Sheep still paying Mikey for losing football games!
When do YOU start to value your time a little more?; or have we become the Chicago Cub fans of the NFL?…In that we enjoy the losing because at least the ticket prices were/are more attractive than in cities where winning is a goal? Yes, I understand that regular season tickets actually don’t do a whole lot financially to interest Mike Brown; That $$$ is pooled and split 32 ways. Its them thar Club seats and Luxury boxes that Mikey Brown gets all to his devil-self! The corporate people who buy those are what really might get his attention. Until those seats fail to sell, he’s certainly not losing a second of sleep, and his teams going 2-8 mean very little. Pulling dollars out of his pocket though?…
Next up for Cincinnati is the Thanksgiving Night game in New York, verses the Jets. That mess will be aired on NFL Network. This will make the empty framework of your Thanksgiving Turkey look good, by comparison!; as the Bung’s lose the game by 3 touchdowns. In the meantime, expect Chad Ochocinco and T.O. to be a distraction and for the locker room to implode. Carson Palmer will take all the blame to protect the players who (also) deserve some blame, and his future in Cincinnati will be what Marvin’s should be – over!
OSU/Iowa will help decide the "big"10\11\12
We’ll leave Wiscony out of the equation, though they do go to the “Big House” this weekend, then host “Wrigley’s” Wildats….If they win out, can the Buckeyes jump ‘em? And, if they can, how many Boise State fans will call their Senator?
This weekend is about OSU/Iowa..and why shouldn’t it? This is PURE BIG10\11\12 football right here…Played in a Iowa Corn Field, and with a 3-way tie staring the conference in the face! This WILL be the last year that the big 10\11\12 crowns a winner without a Conference Final game. Odd how so many BIG10\11\12 fans pined for a Playoff system in College Footbal, but never had a true conference winner -most years!
Iowa is 7-3, and tOSU is 9-1….The Buck-o’s are a road fav, giving 3 points to the Hawkeyes…It will be interesting to see how much success the Buckeyes have on the ground this week; Iowa comes in ranked fifth in the country, allowing just 87 yards a game. Iowa has struggled against the pass though, but with the mistakes Pryor has been making, its hard telling to predit how much trust the VEST has in him. Certainly, OSU fans can join me in concluding that Tressy and poorly managed this kids talents! Cam Newton is doing in one year, more than T-Pry has done in three! Still, The Bucks cover this one in a little bit of a shoot-out for these teams: 31-27.
With Oregon headed to the Title game, its going to be a good year to be the Big10\11\12 winner, with a Rose Bowl date looming with freakin’ Stanford!
So, the question I pose to you is this; Barring a sloppy loss by “W”-cony, does OSU have an Orange Bowl Date with V-Tech in store for them, or possibly a Cap-One Bowl date with Alabama?…and, which one is tUffer?…and before you add something silly, like, Florida might end up in the Franklin American Mortgage Music City, they’ve won two Titles this decade, so BITE ME!…..that, and the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl is a lot of fun,…I ..hear….BITE ME AGAIN!..Oh, and here’s an ass picture to make you feel good about all this…
