T-PRY for Heisman?…Is it that clear cut in 2010?
The latest greatest “He15man” Hype projections all have the typical ”players” on them,….. For me its more a respectful “why”? Why does Terrelle Pryor get so much mention as a Heisman candidae, when he’s largely under-produced for 2 straight years under the “VEST”! Of course the slanted opinions of that given “source” aside (it IS a Sooner Boomer site after all) the top several listed are the same names EVERYone is talking about. That happens a lot in June, and nothing can really be argued for most of those named in the top 5, or so…!
” MY” question is, why is Terrelle Pryor ranked so highly ranked? I’m not questioning the WHY part of his inclusion, nor am I discounting his chances of winning the award or even becoming a realistic contender at some point…No, more that it seems NO ONE can talk about the award, and not include T-P as not only a top prospect, but THE front runner!…..
I think this kid is still yet to live up to his expectations since being recruited. The expectations were too high, that’s partly true, but he’s really not even halved the hype, I don’t think…–much less set himself up to be the dominating, GAME CHANGING QB he was suppose to be. And!,…he was “suppose” to be all that, RIGHT out of the gate (as a Frosh)! He is, after all, on the ONE team that is set up favorably in a sliding BCS conference, guaranteed of consideration no matter the level of league play! PeniState, and Iowa (they flash every few years) have produced, and Wiscony has their moments; but, Looking at the BIG Picture:… The conference is not what some other conferences are -Blown out in BIG Bowl Games, and horrible record in the Rose Bowl, and have TWO Natty’s (collectively) in the last 40+ years. You take OSU out of the BIG10, and the BIG10 closes its doors! (Figuratively speaking, of course). The point; Pryor is set up in the ONE town where the BIG10\11 plays where he’s REALLY only got to play 2 games a year to win. The rest should be stat-padding “Bunnies”!….This year, the up-n-coming scUM of Miami will blow into town. If he navigates their quick but young secondary he could have his “big” win of the season! scUM is projected to be a top 15 team, coming off of last years roller-coaster season.
Still, 161 yards passing averaged per game translates to #1 Heisman guy??….a career 2-1 ratio on TD passes to INT’s is LOCK pick status?….If Tim Tebow was entering his Junior year with these numbers, OSU fans would be ROASTING his ash (or anyone else’s for that matter) if he were a #1 Heisman candidate! Particularly when last year’s winner is returning to a team expected to repeat as champions!
Of course, everyone is waiting for TP’s switch to flip, and for this physically prepared young man to use his “gifts” to produce Art Schlichter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art_Schlichter ) type numbers….The Buck-os will be a top 3 team to start the season, and even if he reaches sililar pedestrian numbers from last year, its expected they will run the Little10/11 table and make it to BCS Bowl level once again,….However!, does that make him a Heisman winner in itself ….Well, in some years it just might! After all, playing in a “Triple A” conference DOES have certain advantages!!!
If an “AA” DB comes out of the BIG10/11, he’s usually coming out of Columbus! (…no disrespect to Mr Amari Spievey (of Iowa) who was drafted this past April). Without touting the SEC horn too much, The SEC is THE home to great secondary’s (3 of the top 6 this year)…..and, of course, defenses in general. Well, I certainly DON’T have to remind Buckeye fans of THAT fact, right!?…so, I digress!
Terrelle Pryor has UNDER-produced, considering his gifts and the stage from which he “plays” he’s going to be in the news nearly every week! That said, I can’t imagine even the most HOMER-ish of Buckeye fan could argue that he’s done M. That said, most fans from ANY school would be over-joyed to have his potential playing for them this year!…..I just don’t see where that qualifies him as the He15man front runner, is all. Hey, maybe it’s a case of “Tressell-ball Killed the radio star”, and maybe the kid just doesn’t throw all that well,…Hey, UFlorida fans heard it from the masses (and still are) about our beloved Tim Tebow!…So, questions about Mr 161 yards a game, OSU guy shouldn’t be looked at as insulting! Nor should this post! Considering the crap I heard in the month+ leading up to the slaughter in the dessert, and the phone calls I got RIGHT after Teddy “sore ankle” Ginn returned the opening kick for a TD, I’d say this shit is quite lame!
I see OSU running the table; beating scUM, and then taking the nature walk through the conference,….BUT!, unlike the run-of-the-mill Buckeye fan, I will NOT be praying every day that Florida and Alabama knocked each other out of contention, so the “Eyes” get Texas or some Pac10 TREAT in the BIG BOWL show-down!

Here’s a nittany lion response to Mr Hatch….NO one was pizzing or moaning when these LARGE institutions: (UFlorida, PeniStateU, LoSerU, OSU, USC, Tenn, ‘Bammer, and yes Texass were investing heavy millions on infrastructure (80-90 mil) and building up the Sport, while the little schools were spending about 20-30 mil to the get to the same end? UFlorida spends 90 mil, and Utah 20 million, but they should get equal shares?..right?…..So, my neighbor buys 100 million in GOOGLE stock, and I bought 100 dollars worth, but he and I are owed the same split???…Yeah, I’m sure that’s how both Hatch and Mr Wentworth roll!
Bottom line, Texas likes this shit set up just like it is, dont kid yourself!…..They might actually have Wentworth shut up, or down, if he keeps rattling their bank accounts. Utah ALSO liked things the way they were,….until they wanted more! And now, they’ve become what they hated! Hey, we ALL “want” more!…but in this case, you’re already getting more! Mr Wentworth: While you’re at it, let’s also ask that some of the “BLAME” for this situation be placed ON those large State programs. Yeah, for helping create this “problem” by strangling out other smaller schools in the righteous effort to controll the talent pools. With the money and size of Texas, does Houston, Texas-El Paso, Baylor or North Texas REALLY get a “level” playing field from which to start? Doesn’t the big fish (Texas itself) squash out the little teams’ ability to compete by using up the lion’s share of the resources? Coaches, facilities, marketing ability and payoffs; to ensure THEY are the team getting the best shot at your “16 team” field of contenders? Certainly you’re not suggesting this politicking is for the benefit of Utah State, or San Diego State even, by offering an even playing field across the 119 team Div one surface, right? NO! Your move here is to attach your legacy to the hope of an eventual move by the NCAA to a “Playoff system” of some kind. This is just a self-fulfilling move on your part, and nothing more!
I think the NCAA has a system that is right in line with what Texas has in mind, despite their exclusion from the 2008 National Title game. (Which by the way, was based on an agreement they signed WITH the benefit of legal counsel -referring to the “tie” breaker clause in the BIG12 bylaws signed by ALL 12 schools before the 2008 season started). Texas has used their size, investment monies and position within the State to build up what would only qualify as a Monopoly,…yet you seek more for them!?!?!

Softball guy is starting to piss me off!
So currently in the CincySoftball.com forums, the Mecca of Softball talk, there is a poll going on about who has or hasn’t used shaved bats. The issue I have is that I’ve listened to the complaints of softball guys for sometime now and they all complain about guys using shaved or doctored bats. Then a poll like this comes out and very few admit to using them. I could go Jose Conseco, write a book, and throw everyone on front street. But I won’t do that. All I’m saying is, get some balls and admit it. All of your stats are inflated and you’re not as good as you think you are. Instead of spending all that money on shaved bats, you need to spend time at the batting cage and drop some coins in the machine. And for those that know a guy is using a shaved bat, sneak a .50 core ball into the game and throw that when the shaved bat comes up and watch that $500 bat shatter all over the field. Then tell that player and his team to login to http://www.cincysoftball.com/forums and check “YES” in the poll!

3. That the so called ”Bengal” fans will continue to make excuses why this piece of sh*t is still coveted in this town, even though time after time he chooses non-football events over the one he’s suppose to be good at!! –AND PAID TO PERFORM!…???
Add to the predictable amazement is; Come game 10 or 11 when the Bungles aren’t getting it done, this same TV-whore-asshole will call someone else on the team out, and blame them for the playoff-less road they’re on….and how these same fans who show undying love and twitter affections for the Chud, will support his silly ass notions that; No one (else) ever IS to blame.
