Get Ready for the Run and “Shank”?

Rumors a few weeks ago were that the Cleveland Browns were interested in Vick.  But I have to believe that the Eagles (or anywhere else) was better than the “Dawg-pound”. 

Could you imagine the circus that would’ve been?  The guys in the sound booth would’ve been like, “Do we play Who let the dogs out or Jailhouse Rock?”  Fans would’ve been throwing dog bones on the field, Vick would get a water bowl instead of a water bottle, the mascott would change week to week depending on which dog won the fight…it would’ve been chaos.

But all joking aside, I’m pulling for him, he’s my dog (pun intended).  I’m a firm believer in second chances.  The man paid his debt to society, now it’s time to move forward. 

There are a lot of people, mostly eagles fans, and groups like PETA that are all pissed off.  But it’s so easy to keep vick on a leash when their lives aren’t under the microscope.  But before you get your panties all tied up in a knot, lets review the facts.

The Eagles just ripped up McNabb’s contract and gave him a new contract worth 24.5 mill over the next 2 yrs.  So his ass isn’t going anywhere.  Back ups Kolb and Feeley have nothing to worry about.  And Vick is only allowed to practice, play in the last 2 pre-season games, and his status will be reviewed by no later than week 6.

So, it’s not like he’s running out there as the starter.  Vick’s been spending a lot of time with spiritual advisor Tony Dungy, Vick and McNabb are homies, and Mcnabb lobbied heavily to Andy Reid to get Vick on the team.   So, when you break it down, it really just sounds like a favor to McNabb to help his partner out.  Vick got a 1 yr contract, with an option for a second year. 

But, what if……

What if Andy Reid really has a plan?  Is he Mad Scientist or Genius? I mean, the NFC East is just like the NFC North and Big 10 football.  Meaning it’s  a hardcore, smashmouth, bust you in the gut and run over you style of football.  Now suddenly you have a guy like Vick that spent the better part of his career simply taking the snap and running down field collecting would be tacklers for highlight reels, who now gives you the option to incorporate a little “Wildcat” offense into your system.  Hell, just throw him on the field in the slot, in the back field or anywhere and defenses won’t know what to do.

I have to say, I’m intrigued and I like it.  I can’t wait to see what happens!

But no matter what, I think he should have to walk through a metal detector before he walks on the field.  You don’t want this guy have flashbacks of prison and pulling the opening scene from “The Last Boy Scout” and start capping people while he runs down the field.  I’m just sayin…you never know.  I mean, nobody thought NASA would tape over the walking on the moon video, but they did.

As for PETA, that’s the biggest group of people in need of a BJ or a Role Model that I’ve ever seen.  Those people are freakin’ crazy.  I just read something on foxnews how they had a “McCruelty Campaign”, where they had pictures of Ronald McDonald holding a knife and there were bloody rubber chickens in the bags with their throats slit….Somebody needs to keep an eye on those people.

PS – Anybody know the address for PETA, just in case I wanted to send them a hooker or a bucket of KFC extra crispy?
Because honestly, those people creep me out!
