Excited about the Reds?

The bitter taste of another losing Bengals season is slowly starting to fade, low expectations for the upcoming draft are in full-swing, but we actually have something else to think about and be excited about now.

Reds Baseball.

The Reds beat the Devil Rays yesterday 7-0.  I know it’s only pre-season, and this win does absolutely nothing for me.  I’m excited because this is a new year, with a lot of young talent, with speed, and probably most importantly – WITHOUT the big Ego’s.

I’ve said it several times here, I’ve always been a Griffey fan and his ego was warrented.  But he is older, injury prone, and he is finally back to end it in Seattle, where it all began for him.  That’s good news for the Reds.  Because it means they don’t have that 1 big super star.  They have a Team full of young guys trying to make a name for themselves, they have a chip on their shoulder with something to prove.  I realize alot of the experts don’t think they can even play .500 ball this year.  But I think they are wrong.  You just can’t sleep on cocky young guys with something to prove.  While I don’t think they are World Series bound (yet), I think we will have a lot of exciting baseball this year.

No more watching the white Shaq lumbering around out in left field like he’s pissed off he has to go chase a ball.  No more watching Griff pull a hammy while hustling and diving after a short fly ball that he would’ve easily caught standing up just 5 yrs. ago.  The pitching staff looks hungry and poised to prove a lot of people wrong.  Brandon Phillips is the clearly defined club-house leader that will not allow the piss poor attitudes and careless work ethic that has plagued this team for so long.

This isn’t the year that they stand on the mountain top, but don’t be surprised either.

  • I’m ready for some Reds baseball…and Kruky too! I love me some Kruky. (Creepy, isn’t it?!)

  • John Kruk?…..everytime I see that guy on TV, I think of his AB against Randy Johnson in the All-Star game, all those many LBS ago……the best AB in All-Star history!
I too am optomistic about the Reds,…though that will certainly fade ’round May first!….still, I love Spring Baseball!

  • I know! I told you it’s quite a creepy little obsession!! Let’s all repeat the Cincinnati Motto: ‘This year we’re gonna be good.’!
